Getting started
A 30-minute call with you and your student about where they are, what they want, and whether I’m a good fit.
Single sessions, a weekly plan, an hour bank, or an essay package (by application).
We meet in person or online. After each session, parents get a quick note on what we covered and what’s next, plus a weekly progress report.
About
I’m a Bay Area native and a 2025 UC Berkeley grad in Data Science. I work as a machine learning scientist on the founding team at Project VAIL, and before that I interned at Zoox as a Data Scientist and Machine Learning Engineer.
AI tools now write a lot of the world’s code, but we still need people who understand the math underneath them. They’re the ones who will build the next, better algorithms. I teach that foundation, from Algebra 1 up to the regressions ML teams use every day, and I help students tell their own story in their college essays.
Machine Learning Scientist, Founding Team
I build ML tools that measure how AI agents behave: how stable they are, and how consistently they use tools.
Data Science and Machine Learning Intern
Zoox
Built frequentist and Bayesian models to validate collision avoidance metrics across 4 self-driving software versions, and presented the findings to the Director of Autonomy Metrics and 20+ stakeholders.
Technical Product Manager
UC Berkeley College of Computing & Data Science, Data Discovery
Managed 35+ teammates for a research program that served 2,400+ students and 1,000+ client projects, and helped organize 7 symposiums showcasing 1,500+ student projects.
B.A. Data Science
University of California, Berkeley
Data Science Scholar & Computer Science Scholar. Classes in machine learning, probability, inference & decision science, optimization, databases, and data engineering.
AI tools are good at writing code. They don’t replace knowing why a model works, when it’s wrong, or how to build a better one. The next generation of ML scientists, researchers and engineers will need the math, and high school is a great time to start.
If they’ve finished Algebra 2, yes. Data Science Fundamentals only needs Algebra 1. On the intro call we can figure out the best starting point together.
No. We start with the math on paper and add Python step by step.
No, and no one should. Your student writes every word, and no AI-written text goes in either. I ask questions, help them find the story they want to tell, and give comments and edits until it sounds like them at their best.
No one can, and I’d be careful with anyone who says they can. I can promise essays that are clear, honest and fully your student’s own.
Use an Apply button under College essays and tell me your student’s grade, school, the colleges on their list and their earliest deadline. If it looks like a good fit, we’ll have a free call before we start.
Yes! Online sessions work from anywhere. In-person sessions are at local libraries in Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon, Danville and Livermore.
My schedule is flexible on weekdays and weekends, so we can find times that fit your student’s week. Weekly plans get first pick of time slots.
